Excavations

Massive, broken-masted, mysterious,
their whitened trident blades fallen,
fractured, wrapped in the roots of trees,
they are unearthed and displayed:
fossils of purpose, offerings
to the god of the winds,
sails to catch his great good grace,
guardians of the people,
mighty giants turning vast protective arms.
